Our goal is to give you an experience you will remember forever. With meaningful and authentic ski and climbing experiences delivered within a safe framework, everything is set for powerful and educational moments.
We are passionate about sharing Lofoten’s unique and fantastic nature, and we want to share our love for the mountains with you. We take pride in offering trips that give you new skills and knowledge you can use on your own future adventures.
Our experienced guides possess deep local knowledge and high expertise, certified through Norske Tindevegledere (Nortind), as instructors through NF (Norsk Fjellsportforum), and as nature guides through the Norwegian Nature Guide Association. We are also an approved course provider through Norsk Fjellsportforum, ensuring you are always in safe hands. We look forward to showing you the very best of Lofoten!
Vegard With Stennes
IFMGA Mountain Guide – Full-time employee
Vegard is the manager and guide at I Fri Natur, proud to call Henningsvær home together with his family Line, Teodor, and Tomine. With a great passion for skiing and climbing, he spends much of his time in nature searching for powerful and rewarding moments alongside participants, guests, family, and friends.
He is an internationally certified IFMGA Mountain Guide.
Vegard has extensive mountain and outdoor experience, having built competence both nationally and internationally. With mountain experience from Norway, Svalbard, the Alps, South America, and the USA, he has gained expertise from some of the world’s most spectacular mountain regions.
Niels Pelabon
IFMGA Mountain Guide – Full-time employee
We are proud to have Niels Pelabon as part of the I Fri Natur team! Niels is a true mountain enthusiast with extensive experience in the region, and his passion for skiing and climbing is infectious to everyone he guides and instructs.
Niels is not only a skilled mountaineer, but also a dedicated educator who is truly passionate about sharing his knowledge with others. He speaks French, Norwegian, and English, so wherever you come from, you will be able to communicate easily with him.
Niels lives in Henningsvær and is employed full-time at I Fri Natur. We are incredibly grateful for his dedication and passion for creating memorable experiences for our guests.

Håvard Indrevik Seppele
Under education to IFMGA mountain guide
You’ll meet Håvard on our climbing courses. He is one of the area’s strongest climbers, and a highly skilled teacher. Also trained as a Nature Guide in Volda. You’ll meet Håvard on climbing courses and instructor courses.
Hermann Glasius Hegg
You’ll meet Hermann on our climbing courses. He is a highly skilled instructor who sees everyone. Hermann is a trained educator. We are proud to have Hermann on the team. You’ll meet him on climbing courses and instructor courses.

Nils is an easygoing person with a great passion for skiing and climbing.
Safety
We take your safety seriously. Through sound HSE and internal control routines, we always work to minimize risk and stay aware of the hazards around us in different situations. For your safety and ours.
We use guides affiliated with Nortind – Norwegian Mountain Guides – and instructors through the Norwegian Mountain Sports Forum.
I Fri Natur is an approved climbing operator through the Norwegian Mountain Sports Forum.
We have handpicked guides with extensive experience in the area.
When using a guide
For the guide, safety is always the focus. Through transparent guidance, hazards and risks will be clearly communicated by the guide. This means that you as a guest will get a clear picture of the dangers we face.
As a guest, it is important to disclose any illnesses, medications, fear of heights, etc. before the trip. If you feel uncomfortable, it is your duty to inform the guide, so that a good solution can be found together.
On the trip, the guide has the final say in all decisions made. All decisions are made as openly as possible to ensure a good shared understanding of the situation among all parties.
All participants on the trip are expected to pay attention to information given, participate, act with care, and contribute to leaving no trace.
Upon registration
Participation in our trips is at your own risk. Climbing and ski touring are defined as extreme sports.
I Fri Natur and our guides do not assume financial responsibility for accidents occurring in connection with our activities and events.
All participants in our activities must have their own travel insurance.

Boat / Plane / Car
How to get to us
We are proud to be rooted in local values and to have experienced guides with strong ties to the region. Our guides are either IFMGA certified, currently training as Mountain Guides (IFMGA Aspirant), or NF Alpine Climbing Instructors. With their knowledge and passion for the nature of Lofoten, we can promise you an experience you will remember forever.
Boat from Bodø
There are several daily express boat departures to Svolvær. The boat trip takes approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes. There is also the Hurtigruten coastal ferry from Bodø, calling at Svolvær at approximately 21:00 every day.Fly to Evenes
Many choose to fly to Evenes. Flyr, Norwegian and SAS all have daily arrivals from Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. From there, you can take a bus or rental car onward to Lofoten. The drive from Evenes is estimated at 2.5 hours.Car
Would you like to combine our trips with a proper road trip? By car and ferry, it takes between 5 and 6 hours to get to Henningsvær from Bodø. From Tromsø, it takes approximately 6.5 hours.Our partners
