Ski and Avalanche Academy

This course is for those with ambition. Do you want to learn more about the combination of avalanche awareness, rope techniques, snow slope techniques, skiing technique, and ice climbing? Then this is the course for you. We aim to give you greater insight and a deeper understanding of travel in the winter mountains. The course focuses on enabling you to make good decisions and ensuring that you are well equipped to make your own decisions in winter terrain.

To participate in this course, you must have experience with ski touring and basic avalanche knowledge.

The course runs over two weeks, with 5 days of instruction + 2 rest days + 5 days of instruction. Accommodation in a dorm at Trevarefabrikken is available for an additional fee (NOK 750 per night, including hotel breakfast).

The course takes place in the mountains around Henningsvær.

Course Content

• 5-day advanced avalanche course
• Use of crampons and ice axe
• Snow slope techniques
• Introduction to ice climbing
• Skiing technique
• Rope techniques in winter mountains / snow anchors
• Safety and first aid in the winter mountains

The course instructors are Tindevegleder-certified mountain guides or are currently training to become Tindevegleder mountain guides.
