Experience Winter in Lofoten on Snowshoes
Experience the Arctic winter in Lofoten up close. With snowshoes on our feet, we explore snow-covered terrain surrounded by dramatic mountains, fjords and the sea.
Snowshoeing is an easy and accessible way to experience Lofoten in winter, and no previous experience is required. Our local guides adapt the tour to the weather, snow conditions and the level of the group.
We choose the route that offers the best experience on the day. Whether that means panoramic views of the Lofoten mountains, exploring a peaceful snow-covered landscape or finding a beautiful place to stop and simply enjoy the surroundings.
What to Expect on the Snowshoe Tour
We meet at the agreed meeting point (Trevarefabrikken) and start with a short introduction to the equipment and the plan for the day. Snowshoes and the necessary equipment are provided by us.
The exact route depends on the weather and snow conditions. Lofoten offers many beautiful areas for snowshoeing. Your guide will choose a route that suits the group and offers the best possible experience that day.
We take our time along the way, stopping at scenic viewpoints, taking photos and enjoying the winter landscape. Your guide will also share local knowledge about Lofoten, the surrounding nature and life in the Arctic.
You need your own car to get to the starting point!
The tour is adapted to the group, and no previous snowshoeing experience is required.
Who Is the Snowshoe Tour For?
Our snowshoe tours are perfect for anyone who wants to experience the winter landscape of Lofoten without skiing. No previous snowshoeing experience is required, and your guide will show you how to use the equipment before we set off.
The tour is suitable for couples, families, groups of friends and small groups. The pace, distance and terrain are adapted to the participants, making it a great experience whether you are active and outdoorsy or simply want to enjoy Lofoten’s winter landscape at a relaxed pace.
You should have a normal level of fitness and be comfortable walking for a few hours in varied terrain and winter conditions.
Local Guides – We Know Winter in Lofoten
I Fri Natur is based in Lofoten, and our guides know the local mountains and winter conditions well. This allows us to choose the best area for the day based on the weather, snow conditions and the wishes of the group.
For us, a great snowshoe tour is about more than following a fixed route. We want to share Lofoten as we know it – and find the experience that makes the most of the conditions that day.
